Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH), Division of General Internal Medicine, a leader in Internal Medicine research, teaching, and service, is seeking an Internal Medicine physician who is a trained health researcher to lead research within the division. The person hired in this position will conduct research in Internal Medicine in a collaborative environment with opportunities for inter-disciplinary research across multiple UWSMPH departments and institutes, as well as, the broader University of Wisconsin campus.

Responsibilities:

This faculty researcher will have responsibilities that include 80% FTE in research, mentoring junior faculty and administration and 20% FTE in clinical care and clinical teaching.

The preferred candidate will have a successful track record of peer-reviewed publications and federal grant funding. They will bring and continue to build a research program in areas of high relevance for general internal medicine, including but not limited to implementation science, health services or disparities. This will include maintaining an established record of independent extramural funding, high-impact publications, and a strong national/international reputation. The preferred candidate will be able to recruit and mentor diverse physician and non-physician General Internal Medicine research faculty; to include annual appraisement and promotion and tenure activities, as well as support research that can lead to collaborations with existing GIM and Department of Medicine faculty at the UWSMPH. They will also be a key player in creating a supportive environment for, and collaborating with, researchers to conduct General Internal Medicine research. This candidate will also be expected to provide patient care at approved UW Health locations.

The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.


Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
MD, DO, or equivalent

Qualifications:

- Demonstrated record of independent federal funding along with significant scholarship and mentorship experience focusing on topics of broad interest within a range of health services research disciplines or implementation science
- A successful track record of collaborating with students, staff, and faculty from a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences
- Demonstrated success in working across reporting lines in a large and complex bureaucratic system
- Fellowship training in health services research, implementation science, or epidemiology preferred

-Appointment will require that candidate meets criteria for the tenure rank at UW-Madison. Additionally, UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines apply for appointment at full or associate professor rank.

License/Certification:

Required
Must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
