Full Professor- Linguistics
Full Professor Position in Linguistics
The University of Pittsburgh Department of Linguistics invites applications from individuals who are qualified for appointment at the Full Professor level, specializing in second language acquisition, instruction, and research methods, beginning September 1, 2025 (note that Fall Term classes begin on or after August 25, 2025).
Essential qualifications include:
PhD in linguistics or applied linguistics by the time of appointment
A research program, evidenced by a strong publication record, featuring a focus on (instructed) second language acquisition and research methods
Ability to teach one or more of the following courses: SLA, syntax, research methods
Evidence of addressing theoretical questions with cutting-edge empirical work across disciplinary lines
Evidence of applying for and obtaining external grant funding
Experience in research center administration
Preferred qualifications -- applicants with one or more of the following will be ranked more highly:
Expertise with quantitative methods and experimental research design
Focus on non-English language(s)
Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education
Experience mentoring graduate students
Active engagement with open-science practices
