Accounting Specialist
Altra Federal Credit Union is looking to fill an Accounting Specialist position at the Operations Center in Onalaska, WI. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be a primary contact for any Accounting related questions.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working through accounting issues, including Over/Short, Foreign Checks, Buys/Sells, shared service, and balancing of all Credit Union accounts and General Ledgers.
- Balancing and cash letter items, including but not limited to Altra specific products: tMagic, Mobile Banking, Tyler ATMs, Hyosung ATMs.
- Balancing and reconciling non-Hyosung ATMs, remote deposits, Altra test accounts, PaySimple ACH General Ledger accounts.
- Accounts Payable functions, including paying invoices, employee reimbursements, Accounts Payable General Ledger reconcilements, federal tax withholding reporting and remittance, WI and MN State Tax withholding reporting and remittance, and various corporate bank account reconcilements.
- Fund Gift Card account in core system from the General Ledger when gift cards are purchased.
- Fund the core system accounts for Delta Dental and UMR invoices approved by HR. Fund the core system checking account for the UMR cuts claims checks.
This position is full time, 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Altra's corporate office is in Onalaska, WI, however, this position is blended remote; time split regularly between working from home and working in the office or 100% working in the office. Candidate would be expected to be in office at least two (2) days a week for check cutting purposes.

To be considered for this position, you will be required to have a High School diploma, GED or HSED and an Associate's degree in accounting, finance, math, or related field. Two (2) years of financial institution or accounting experience is preferred.
Candidates must have good computer skills, including experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Must have the ability to work with payroll personnel in a professional manner, primarily over the phone. Basic knowledge of all aspects of Electronic Funds Transfers accounting.
Good organizational skill and math skills. Must be analytical, good problem solvers, have good attention to detail and be accountable. Must be able to work at a desk for long periods of time, sitting or standing and can handle stressful situations as they occur.
