Nurse Education Program Director

Aaniiih Nakoda College (a Tribally-controlled community college located on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation in northcentral Montana) is seeking a hands-on, creative and compassionate nurse educator to guide the Grow Our Own Associate Degree Nursing Program. A succession and mentorship plan are in place for an effective orientation and transition period of the new program director. In 2015, the nursing program was established from the vision of the community and the Aaniinen and Nakoda Tribal elders to provide culturally safe nursing care for the community in and around the region. The program has prepared 26 graduates serving area healthcare facilities, attesting to the success of the program's Grow Our Own vision. Every other year, a small cohort of students is admitted allowing the program director and faculty to work within a small, student-centered environment where American Indian culture and lifeways are integrated into the unique nursing curriculum centered on the Medicine Wheel paradigm. Clinical education is community based with supportive local and regional healthcare facilities. State approval and nation accreditation are extremely favorable. The Grow Our Own program was featured in the December 2022 American Journal of Nursing and recently in a local KRTV feature.
